Dr Heather Youngson

Who am I?

I am a fully qualified, brain injury rehabilitation specialist with a private practice based in Northampton, and I've spent the last 30 years helping individuals through some of the toughest periods of their life.

I originally trained a psychiatric nurse and spent a great deal of time looking after hospital patients who had suffered a head injury due to a road accident, assault, stroke or illness. I derived an immense amount of satisfaction helping them begin their physical and mental recovery and was inspired to go further with my training and expand my clinical expertise so I could continue to help them once they had left hospital.

I care a great deal about making sure brain injured patients achieve the maximum recovery possible and have undertaken numerous professional training courses to ensure I can help make it happen. I have completed a PhD in Cognitive Studies, Masters degrees in Clinical Psychology and Neuro-Rehabilitation, as well as a diploma in stress management.

I'm a member of many professional organisations, including:

  1. The British Psychological Society (BPS)
  2. The British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy
  3. The Cognitive Behavioural Therapist Association (CBTA)
  4. The Expert Witness Directory
  5. BUPA Registered
