Training

Sometimes people assume a brain injured person is completely recovered because the cuts and broken bones have healed. But all brain injured patients undergo mental changes that can be hard to understand and frustrating to cope with, making it difficult for people outside of the rehabilitation process to know how to respond to issues as they arise.

This is especially true of head injured children. Brain damage, no matter how slight, can make it hard for a child to learn new skills as they grow up, and parents and teachers may not even realise a student's behavioural problems stem from an earlier injury. It's not uncommon for them to be labelled as trouble-makers or even lazy due to a lack of understanding about the effects a brain injury has had.

For this reason I run educational seminars and training courses to help teachers, tutors, classroom assistants, care assistants and students understand the issues involved in dealing with a brain-injured individual. I will also present a number of appropriate strategies for dealing with complex behavioural issues as they arise. The specific content, size and length of these seminars and courses can be tailored to your requirements and be carried out on- or off-site at a time convenient to you.
