What services do I offer?

All of my services are based around one main goal: to help people regain their skills after a traumatic or acquired brain injury and successfully reintegrate them back into family and community life.

Cases are usually referred to me from a variety of sources, including:

  1. Psychiatrists and psychologists
  2. Solicitors and personal injury lawyers
  3. The Police
  4. Insurance companies
  5. Behavioural health companies
  6. Hospital Behavioural, Community or Psychology units
  7. Occupational health organisations
  8. GPs
  9. Other brain injury therapists

The process starts when I visit the patient to assess the extent to which the injury has affected their circumstances and create a personalised treatment plan based on their precise needs. This will be integrated into a comprehensive report - suitable for use in civil litigation court cases - outlining the probable time span of the treatment, number of sessions required and costs involved. Once I begin to work with the patient and their carers, I carefully monitor the treatment to ensure goals are met until such time as the patient has gained the maximum progress possible under my care.

There is no such thing as 'an off the shelf' approach to brain injury, and I offer different services depending on the stage of rehabilitation the patient is at and the severity of the injury they have suffered:

Brain injuries can put a severe strain on relationships. Not only does the patient suffer from a variety of different emotional problems that require counselling, but often so does the spouse, family and carers of a brain-injured individual. Feelings of confusion, grief, isolation and inadequacy are very common and strategies are needed to help them cope with the situation they find themselves in. For this reason I offer 1-2-1 hourly counselling/ therapy consultations, either by telephone, email, or face-to face in the home or dedicated room in St Andrews Hospital, Northampton.

However, you don't have to have a brain injury or be caring for someone who does to visit me for counselling. If you feel anxious, unhappy, depressed or unfulfilled for whatever reason and don't know what to do, I can help you find the strength and inspiration to tackle your problems, learn new skills and set goals to get your life back on track.

Who would benefit most from counselling?

Counselling is suitable for everyone, including children, families, couples and individuals, and is immensely helpful for a range of different issues such as:

  1. post-traumatic stress
  2. obsessive compulsive disorder
  3. panic attacks
  4. eating disorders
  5. depression
  6. anxiety
  7. phobias
  8. behavioural problems
  9. anger Management

I take a very pro-active approach to counselling and encourage my client's develop their coping strategies in between appointments using recommended books, CD-ROMs and goal setting.
